The Indian football team displayed wonderful football in the grand finale of the SAFF Championship 2023 that was held in Bengaluru's Sree Kanteerava Stadium against the Kuwait football team.
India vs Kuwait highlights: SAFF Championship 2023 Final
India reached the final of the SAFF Championship 2023 beating the Lebanon football team in the semi-final on the penalty shootout, whereas Kuwait managed to beat Bangladesh in the extra-time to reach the final.
The match began with Kuwait initiating a couple of attacks. Team India also started to attack the Kuwait goal, but it was actually Kuwait football team's Al Khaldi scored the opening goal in the 14th minute of the match.
However, Kuwait couldn't hold India back. After several misssed chances, finally left-winger Lallianzuala Chhangte converted a brilliant team play by Ashique Kuruniyan, Sunil Chhetri, Sahal Abdul Samad and Chhangte.
The 2nd half was also quite an exciting half. But Team India played better football until Kuwait put some pressue on the Indian defence in the injury time, however, couldn't find the winning goal.
The match went to the extra-time and it was so competitive that both teams couldn't find the winning goal and the match went on to the penalty shootout.
Ultimately the Indian football team won the penalty shootout despite Udanta Singh missing one of the opportunity for India. Kuwait also missed their first opportunity and then Indian goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu saved Kuwait captain's attempt in the 6th attempt to help Team India win by 5-4 in the Penalty Shootout.
