FC Goa set to sign Victor Rodríguez Odisha FC Indian Super League ISL 2023-2024

Indian Super League (ISL) club FC Goa is reportedly set to sign Spanish midfielder/winger Víctor Rodríguez Romero, simply known as Victor Rodríguez, from other ISL club Odisha FC as a replacement for the outgoing forward and Goa's star player from last season, Iker Guarrotxena.

The 2019-2020 Indian Super League (ISL) League Shield Winners FC Goa shocked everyone when they announced the decision to part ways with one of their star player from last season, Iker Guarrotxena, who has now signed for Real Murcia CF in Spain.

The player had a existing contract with the club till the end of the Indian football 2023-2024 season, but the mutual termination came as a shocker for the fans.

Now according to a report by renowned Indian football and transfer journalist Marcus Mergulhao, the FC Goa team is now looking to sign Odisha FC midfielder as a replacement for the outgoing Iker ahead of the new Indian Super League 2023-2024 season.

Victor Rodriguez, who signed a 1 year deal with the Odisha FC team in 2022, is yet to extend his contract with the club. With new head coach Sergio Lobera is place, it's not confirm whether he will retain his position in the Playing XI, especially with Edu Garcia also set to join the team alongwith Ahmed Jahouh.

Rodriguez featured in 23 matches in total last season including the Indian Super League and the Hero Super Cup and scored 3 goals while also came in clutch with 3 assists as well, however, 2 of his goals and 2 of his assists came in the Super Cup.

As revealed, the FC Goa fans were dealt a massive blow with the departure of the star player Iker Guarrotxena despite having a existing contract. Meanwhile, the club most recently announced the signature of the 37-years-old striker Carlos Martínez while Australian Paulo Retre is another overseas addition in the club this season.

They have also signed Indian football team's star defender Sandesh Jhingan alongwith winger Udanta Singh. Rowllin Borges has joined on loan from Mumbai City FC and they have signed Raynier Fernandes and Boris Singh from Mumbai City FC and Jamshedpur FC respectively. The team has also let go off the club captain Edu Bedia. 

They are also set to announce the arrival of Odei Onaindia from Hyderabad FC, who is following the footsteps of the former Hyderabad FC coach Manolo Marquez.
