We are just a night away from the kick-off for the first match of the new Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-2022 season between ATK Mohun Bagan and Kerala Blasters, on the 19th of November, Friday.
The Indian Super League, the India's top division football league is back after a long gap of 7 month as the first match of the new season will be a repeat of last season's season opener between ATK Mohun Bagan and Kerala Blasters.
While ATK Mohun Bagan went on to the final of ISL last season after finishing 2nd in the league, losing out to Mumbai City FC in both occasions, Kerala Blasters on the other hand could only finish 10th, ahead of bottom placed Odisha FC and behind the newcomer SC East Bengal, though on equal points.
Both teams also played the season opener last season as well, where ATK Mohun Bagan came out victorious in their debut match in ISL, all thanks to a brilliant goal by Roy Krishna on the 68th minute of the match.
However, ever since then, there has been major changes in terms of both team. Kerala Blasters looks much better compare to last season, whereas, ATK Mohun Bagan has managed to keep their squad intact, with some new additions that makes the team even more strong.
ATK Mohun Bagan might feel the absence of their star defender from last season, Sandesh Jhingan, who has left to join a Croatian team. Whereas, Kerala Blasters will be coming in with more firepower.
