Kerala Blasters FC in talks with defender Dylan McGowan

With the head coach now confirmed by the Kerala Blasters last month, the team has finally hit the ground for foreign recruitments and several quality players are already linked with the side.

The latest of them all is the 29-year-old Australian centre-back Dylan McGowan who plays for the Western Sydney Wanderers in the Australian top division, the A-League.

Dylan McGowan started his football career with Para Hills Knights. He left them to join Scottish side Heart of Midlothian FC's Under 20 team. He was with them for near about 4 years before making a return to Australia with Gold Coast United.

McGowan then joined Adelaide United in 2014 and spent 3 years with them and then joined Portuguese Liga NOS team FC Paços de Ferreira in 2017. He joined Japanese side Gangwon FC during the winter window and stayed with them till December before switching over again, this time to Denmark to play for Vendsyssel FF.

He joined his current team Western Sydney Wanderers during the 2019 summer transfer window, and has ever since then playing for them.

Kerala Blasters FC released all of their foreign contingent last month including their highest scorer Jordan Murray, who is reportedly set to join Jamshedpur FC.

And with new head coach Ivan Vukomanovic at the helm, the club is looking to bring a complete new set of foreign players that suit the coaches playing style. And Dylan McGowan is one of those many players that Kerala Blasters have approached.

A source informed us, "Yes, contact has been made, but there is still some differences between both parties." He also informed us that Sydney FC's Ryan McGowan, who is Dylan's elder brother, was also approached by the club.

"Dylan's big brother Ryan was also someone Kerala wanted, but Ryan informed them that they have better offers" he rounded off.

By looks of Kerala Blasters' approach at the moment, it looks like that the Asian quota player is the one whom they are giving more importance to, and thus, we can hope that the first foreign signing for Kerala Blasters will be an Asian.
