22-years-old Mumbai City FC attacker Vikram Partap Singh's hat-trick influenced Mumbai City FC to a crucial victory over NorthEast United FC at the Mumbai Football Arena as the Islanders' race continue for the League Shield with Odisha FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant.

The Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-2024 League Winners' Shield fight turning up the heat this season as each and every passing match adding to the excitement. Today, Mumbai City FC hosted NorthEast United FC at the Mumbai Football Arena in a crucial match for both the clubs.

While Mumbai City FC are in the race for the league shield, NorthEast United FC are part of a six-way fight for the remaining one slot for the ISL Playoffs 2023-2024. NorthEast United face direct competition from the likes of Jamshedpur FC, Bengaluru FC, Chennaiyin FC, East Bengal FC and Punjab FC while Mumbai City FC is chasing Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Odisha FC for the league shield.

Mumbai City FC recorded a convincing win against the Highlanders as they won the match 4-1 at the Mumbai Football Arena. The highlight of the match is surely the performance of attacker Vikram Partap Singh, who scored a brilliant hat-trick in the match.

Vikram Partap scored the first of his three at the 3rd minute of the when he found the bottom left corner with his right footed shot to give Mumbai City FC the early lead in the match. Vikram scored again in the 10th minute to make it 2-0 for the home team when he headed home for his 2nd and the team's 2nd goal.

Mumbai City FC completely dominated the match against the visiting team as they made it 3-0 seconds before heading back into the tunnel. This time, Yoëll van Nieff scored form the penalty spot in the added-time of the first-half. However, it was quite surprising that Vikram Partap Singh was not allowed to take the penalty despite him being on a hat-trick and an opportunity to bag a first-half hat-trick.

But Vikram Partap Singh made amends for that as he finally completed his hat-trick with his third goal of the match at the 80th minute of the match, moments after NorthEast United's Jithin M.S scored the only goal for NorthEast United at the 79th minute of the match. Vikram found the bottom left corner again assisted by Lallianzuala Chhangte to complete his hat-trick.

Vikram's hat-trick helped Mumbai City FC register an important 4-1 win over NorthEast United. This also gives Mumbai City FC the lead at the top of the league with 39 points from 19 matches. Mohun Bagan Super Giant sits 2nd with 36 points from 17 matches followed by Odisha FC with 35 points from 18 matches.
