The I-League 2023-2024 season matchweek 11 concluded with a stalemate draw between the league leaders Mohammedan Sporting Club and Churchill Brothers FC on 17th of December at the Tilak Maidan in Goa.
The 13 team affair I-League 2023-2024 season is reaching its halfway mark and the battle for promotion to the Indian Super League is on between multiple teams with no teams having a clear advantage yet.
The matchweek 11 of the I-League 2023-24 season brought some exciting matches, highlighted by the all important match between Aizawl FC and Gokulam Kerala, looking to take the next step towards promotion battle.
The football action on matchweek 11 commenced on Friday, December 15th with a double-header between Inter Kashi and Delhi FC and NEROCA FC vs Rajasthan United FC.
Inter Kashi and Delhi FC finds themselves in the lower-half of mid-table battle with Inter Kashi 7 and Delhi FC 8. It's the side from Kashi who walked out victorious in the match thanks to goals from Asif Khan and Jordan Lamela.
Meanwhile, NEROCA FC and Rajasthan United FC played out a 7 goals thriller as they intend to get out of the relegation battle. Rajasthan United won the match 3-4 against the side from Northeast. Richard Denzell scored a brace while Lalchungnunga Chhangte and Suhail Pasha also found the back of the net for Rajasthan United. Dario Junior, Ansumana Kromah and David Singh found the net for NEROCA.
On 16th December, Real Kashmir took the next step towards the promotion battle with a 3-1 win vs Shillong Lajong. Kamal Issah, Gnoheré Krizo and Mohammad Inam scored the 3 goals for Real Kashmir. However, the most important match of the matchweek 11 was between Aizawl and Gokulam Kerala, both the teams consisting the league's top two goal scorer. However, it ended in a 1-1 draw.
The last bit of action of matchweek 11 on Sunday, 17th December. Two crucial matches were played out on Sunday. The first match saw the bottom placed teams TRAU FC take on Namdhari FC while top of the table Mohammedan SC faced off mid-table side Churchill Brothers FC Goa.
In the first match of the day, TRAU FC suffered defeat against Namdhari, adding further dent to their aspiration of getting out of the relegation zone. Namdhari beat TRAU 2-1 with Manvir Singh scoring the winner at the 76th minute of the match. Meanwhile, top of the table Mohammedan Sporting Club were out looking to further distance themselves from the 2nd placed team Sreenidi Deccan FC, who have 20 points on the board. However, Mohammedan could only get a draw from Goa and now finds themselves on 24 points with same number of matches played.
The matchweek 12 of the I-League 2023-2024 season commences on the 19th of December with two very important matches between Sreenidi Deccan FC vs Gokulam Kerala FC and Aizawl FC and Inter Kashi.
