Mohammedan Sporting Club wins their third straight Calcutta Football League title after beating Mohun Bagan

Mohammedan Sporting Club (SC) have won their 3rd straight Calcutta Football League (CFL) title after beating Mohun Bagan Super Giant in their last match of the CFL 2023 season played at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan.

It was the day that every Mohammedan SC fans were looking upto and they have not been upset as the Black Panthers, the third big club from Kolkata, managed to beat the one of the big team Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the Calcutta Football League 2023 to win their third back-to-back CFL title.

Mohammedan Sporting, who will take part in the I-League that is likely to start from October last week, have begun their campaign to a fantastic start. While they missed out on reaching the quarter-finals of the Durand Cup 2023 just for 1 goal, they have made amends for that by winning their 3rd in a row Calcutta Football League title.

After playing 16 matches before today, Mohammedan had 41 points to their name in the CFL 2023 and needed just a win in their last match of the campaign to win the CFL 2023 Trophy.

Mohammedan Sporting Club took the lead in the match against Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the 13th minute of the match when Lalremsanga headed in the opening goal from corner. A couple of minutes later, in the 37th minute of the match, it was Mohammedan SC's prolific striker David Lalhlansanga who scored his 21st goal of the league and gave Mohammedan a 2-0 lead going into the half-time.

Mohun Bagan couldn't put up a fight against the Black Panthers. The Mariners even struggled to break through the Mohammedan defence and in the end, had it settle without scoring a goal as Mohammedan Sporting Club won the match 2-0 to win tye Calcutta Football League 2023 title.

With that, Mohammedan SC has reached 44 points from their 17 matches including the group stage and the super six stage. East Bengal and Diamond Harbour FC, who were in the title race, now have no options to catch up to Mohammedan's tally.
