Indian football team will face close for Lebanon football team once again in the King's Cup 2023 after Indian team's valiant effort in the semi-final of the King's Cup 2023 was dismissed by penalty shootout that saw 70th FIFA Ranked Iraq qualify for the final despite the 90 minutes ending in a draw.
The Indian football team rose above its height to almost pull off a spectacular win against Iraq football team in the King's Cup 2023. While Naorem Mahesh Singh and an own goal gave Team India the lead twice, but Iraq cancelled it out with 2 of their goals, both coming from penalty, while the 2nd penalty was bit of a controversial one.
Team India fought valiantly and in the end bowed out in the penalty shootout. Iraq progressed to the final of the King's Cup 2023, who will now face host Thailand in the final. Meanwhile, Blue Tigers will face one of very well known foe in the recent times, Lebanon, who lost to Thailand in the 2nd Semi-Final of the King's Cup 2023 edition.
This will be 4th time that Indian football team will play against Lebanon football team in 2023, rather in last 4 months, after facing them earlier in June and July in the Hero Intercontinental Cup and the SAFF Championship 2023.
In the previous 3 matches, India beat Lebanon twice, once in penalty shootout and once in regular time while 1 match also ended in a draw in the group stage of the Intercontinental Cup.
