Yesterday India football match result: India vs Kuwait

Going into the all important match for both the Indian National football team and the Kuwait football team, both the teams have had won both their previous matches against Pakistan and Nepal, thus were on 6 points and a win would have taken the winning team to finish at the top of the SAFF Championship 2023 Points Table Group A.

The match began in a very cagey affair with both India and Kuwait threatening each other's goal. Kuwait were the first team to find the back of the net, however, it was a side netting.

Both the teams created a good number of opportunities but both the teams failed to find the back of the net, until the hard moments of the first half. India captain Sunil Chhetri produced a brilliant side volley kick to score the first goal of the match of a corner kick from Indian midfielder Anirudh Thapa.

The Indian team were in control for most of the 2nd half until they lost the focus after a brawl between the Indian team and Kuwait team players. As a result of that incident, Indian team's Rahim Ali and Kuwait's Hameed Al-Qallaf were both shown a red card for the violent behaviour in the 90th minute of the match.

Just after a few minutes later, Kuwait got their all important goal through a Indian defender Anwar Ali's own goal at the 92nd minute of the match.

As a result, the match ended in a draw and both the teams had to share the spoil. Both teams have qualified for the Semi-Finals of the SAFF Championship 2023, but it is Kuwait who finished top of the Group A due to most goals scored after both ended on 7 points and goal difference of 6.

After both India and Kuwait qualified for the Semi-Finals, the other 2 teams from the group, Nepal football team and the Pakistan football team bowed out of the tournament with Nepal beating Pakistan earlier on the day to finish 3rd while Pakistan ended the campaign with not a single victory and goal beside their name.

Talking of Group B, Lebanon have already qualified while there could still be change for the 2nd place between Bangladesh and Maldives. The former will play bottom placed Bhutan today, on 28th June while earlier at 3:30 PM, Lebanon will face Maldives.

SAFF Championship 2023: Semi-Finals

The Indian football team's opponent in the SAFF Championship 2023 Semi-finals very much depends on the above matches as Team India will take on the team which will finish at the top of the Group B in SAFF Championship Points Table, which is very likely at the moment to be Lebanon.
