Jamshedpur FC set to sign Rei Tachikawa Indian Super League 2023-2024

According to various reports, Indian Super League (ISL) club Jamshedpur FC have managed to struck a deal to sign Japanese midfielder Rei Tachikawa from the Maltese Premier League side Sirens FC for the upcoming Indian Super League 2023-2024 season.

After winning the Hero ISL League Winners'Shield in the 2021-2022 season, Jamshedpur FC had a not so good outing in the recently concluded Indian Super League 2022-2023 season, where the team finished 2nd to bottom, just ahead of bottom placed NorthEast United FC.

As a result of the disappointing result, the club is set to part ways with head coach Aidy Boothroyd with reportedly the Englishman Scott Cooper set to replace him at the club.

Other than the coaching changes, the club is also very active in the transfer market to strengthen their team just ahead of the upcoming season, which will commence with the Durand Cup in August.

The club is reportedly targeting a number of foreign players to reinforce the team. And the Japanese midfielder Rei Tachikawa is the latest name to be linked with the Red Miners. 

Rei Tachikawa is a 25-years-old central-midfielder who plays in the Maltese Premier League club Sirens FC. He started his career with the Júbilo Iwata youth team before joining the Osaka University. He then made his next move to Portugal to join FC Perafita in 2018. In January 2019, he then joined FC Felgueiras, but that very same year he joined Santa Lucia FC in the summer and he joined his current team Sirens FC in 2021.

The midfielder featured in 23 matches for the his team in the Maltese Premier League 2022-2023 season and scored 2 goals and 4 assists. His contract expires with the club in June 30 and thus will be joining as a free transfer.

Jamshedpur FC is going through quote the revamp this season with number of existing having left the club. Other than Rei Tachikawa, Jamshedpur FC also looking to get the signature of Brazilian midfielder Elsinho. Meanwhile, they have already got the signing done with former Chennaiyin FC striker Petar Slišković.

Jérémy Manzorro and Michael Ortega are two other players who have been linked with a move to the club, however there hasn't anything advance yet regarding the two players. The club is reportedly also looking to sign an Algerian striker.

Meanwhile the club has already released Ishan Pandita and Farukh Choudhary while Boris Singh has joined FC Goa.
