The Indian football calendar has been extended as the Hero Super Cup is now officially back after a gap of couple of years since after last the tournament was played in 2019 when FC Goa won the tournament. Gokulam Kerala finished 3rd in the Hero I-League 2022-2023 points table, finishing behind the champions Roundglass Punjab FC and Sreenidi Deccan FC. The team made lots of changes this season which may have played a huge role in the team being unsuccessful in retaining the title for the 2nd time.
