The first match of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-2022 season has gone in favour of ATK Mohun Bagan, who has defeated the Kerala Blasters 4-2 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.
It was a goal fest as the opening match itself saw 6 goals being scored and it proves that the coming matches will bring in more.

ATK Mohun Bagan got off to a great start as Hugo Boumous scored the first goal of the season in just the 3rd minute of match.
It was a short corner by Liston Colaco, Boumous received it left of the pitch, and then puts in a cross which gone straight into the back of the net and goalkeeper Albino had no chance as he was preparing for an deflection of Roy Krishna, but the ball went straight in without touching Roy.
Kerala Blasters came into the match with a goal from Sahal Abdul Samad at the 24th minute of the match. A great ball from Rahul KP from the right and Sahal Abdul Samad chest it down with a great finish from the D-Box line, Amrinder just can't do anything.
The match was going end to end, at a moment Kerala Blasters was attacking, and another moment it was ATK Mohun Bagan attacking. ATK Mohun Bagan again took the lead at the 27th minute, when Roy Krishna converted a penalty.
It was a great through ball from Hugo Boumous and Roy Krishna chased after it and was brought down by goalkeeper Albino Gomes. Roy Krishna made no mistake to score his first goal of the season.
Some minutes after, Hugo Boumous made it 3-1 for ATK Mohun Bagan. It was a long clearance and Hugo Boumous passed Bijoy very easily and nutmegged the goalkeeper to score his 2nd of the match.
It was 3-1 for ATK Mohun Bagan going into the half-time. The second half was once again end to end football, but it was Kerala Blasters who were looking better.
But once again it was ATK Mohun Bagan who scored the goal to make it 4 goal on the day. And it was Liston Colaco who scored simply a world-class goal.
Colaco got the ball on the left side of the pitch from Roy Krishna, and he just curl it from there to the top of right corner.
Kerala Blasters did managed to get one more goal back thanks to Argentine winger Jorge Pereira Diaz to make it 2 goal on the night for Kerala Blasters. Adrian Luna sent in a great through ball, which Diaz managed to get to back of the net on the 69th minute.
Kerala Blasters did try their best to find more goals, but ATK Mohun Bagan looked solid defensively, just like what they like to do. The match ended 4-2 in the favour of home team ATK Mohun Bagan, who start of their campaign with a win. Hugo Boumous was named Hero of the Match for scoring 2 goals.
