David Williams confirms where he play this season

The transfer window all around the world has opened on June 9, as is in India as well. The teams from the Indian Super League, I-League, I-League 2nd Division are busy in strengthening their squad.

And there are some uncertainties looming over ATK Mohun Bagan with two of their star foreign players, Roy Krishna and David Williams yet to confirm their participation for this season.

However, according to reports, the Fiji striker Roy Krishna has agreed to extend his contract with the Green and Maroon team, but there is nothing concrete over the situation of David Williams.

However, the Aussie himself has confirmed that he is most likely to play in the Indian Super League next season through his Instagram account.

The Australian posted a picture on his Instagram account where a fan of his from India asked whether he has any chance of playing in the Indian top division, the Indian Super League. And David Williams responded with a yes in reply to his question.

The Aussie has been a lethal striker for first ATK and then ATK Mohun Baga. In his two seasons in India so far, David Williams has 38 appearances and has scored 13 goals and 7 assists.

When we enquired about it, a source disclosed to us that he has rejected an opportunity to play in Australia due to low salary and would consider India first, "he rejected an A-League club and India is the first option."

He also added that David Williams wants a 2 year deal while ATK Mohun Bagan want only 1 year deal, "Williams looking for 2 years contract but Mohun Bagan offering only 1 year."

"Some Indian clubs ready to meet Williams' demand, however, he will wait for ATK Mohun Bagan's answer" added the source.

It was reported earlier that ATK Mohun Bagan is looking to replace David Williams with a much better Asian striker or an Asian attacking midfielder, however, with players declining to come to India due to COVID situation in India, the club went back with a 1 year contract extension offer.

Things are getting exciting as the transfer window is picking up its pace. Now it will be interesting to see where David Williams will play this season, ATK Mohun Bagan or elsewhere.
