Mohammedan Sporting Club, the 3rd Kolkata Giant and one of the most oldest and successful club in Indian Football, will be returning to action in I-League 2021-2022 season with new head coach Andrey Alekseyevich Chernyshov in command.

Mohammedan Sporting Club were absent from (the then top division, now 2nd division) I-League from couple of years due to poor performance in the recent years.

But with new management of Sheikh Wasim Akram and Dipendu Biswas at the helm, the club made its long awaited return into the I League in September 2020 after winning the I-League qualifiers which was organised due to the cancellation of I League 2nd Division (the 3rd division of Indian Football) due to the COVID-19.

Their return into the I-League wasn't so fruitful as the club finished 6th in the league stage when the expectations were high from them as they were the only Kolkata giant playing in the I League as the other two, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal left I-League to join new top division of Indian Football, the Indian Super League.

Mohammedan Sporting Club will now take the field in the upcoming I-League 2021-2022 with a new Russian head coach Andrey Chernyshov in charge of the team.

Russian Players Mohammedan Sporting Club should Target for I League 2021-2022

So with the introduction of the Russian coach, we surely expect Mohammedan Sporting Club to sign atleast one Russian player for the season. So, Indian Football News today will highlight some Russian Players that Mohammedan Sporting Club should target this summer.

Artem Deljkin

Mohammedan Sporting Club lacked a proper goalscorer at the start of the season and thus goals were hard to come by, but with the signing of Pedro Manzi, Mohammedan SC finally started to score goals at good numbers but by that time it was too late. And thus Andrey Chernyshov would want to bring in a quality striker from the get go.

And one Russian centre-forward who could be a great fit for Mohammedan Sporting will be Artem Deljkin. Artem currently plays for Russian 2nd division club Akron Togliatti, and his contract is set to run out at the end of June this year.

Artem Deljkin finished the season as the top goalscorer for his club and helped them survive from relegation after just getting promotion last season. Artem Deljkin scored 8 goals and 2 assists in 35 appearance this season and could turn out to be quality striker for any I-League club let alone Mohammedan Sporting Club. The player can also operate in both wings.

Vladimir Khozin

The 2nd name on our list is centre-back Vladimir Khozin who plays for Russian 2nd Division side Chaika Peschanokopskoe.

If you are looking for a goal-scoring centre-back, then Vladimir Khozin is a perfect option as the player has history of scoring goals. Standing at 1,85 meters height, Vladimir Khozin scored 8 goals in 35 appearances for his team in 2020-2021 season and finished as the top goalscorer for the club this season.

Beside height, his jumping reach is quite good thus he would be a quality centre-back for any I-League clubs. Not only this season, but Khozin has a habit of scoring goals from centre-back position as throughout his career he has scored 38 goals. The player can also play in other defensive positions. He will be a free agent at the end of June 2021.

Nikita Malyarov

Nikita Malyarov is a central-midfielder and plays for Russian 2nd Division club Shinnik Yaroslavl. Having an experienced midfielder is very important for any team as midfield is the positions where moves start from, and Nikita Malyarov is a perfect fit for that.

In 21 appearances this season, Nikita Malyarov has scored 4 goals and 2 assists this season. Mohammedan Sporting Club who are looking to replace Jamal Bhuyan, Nikita Malyarov could just turn out to be the right option. Even though he was on the pitch for 1200 odd minutes, his stats show the impact he had on the midfield. His contract also runs out in June.

Ruslan Pashtov

Another name that could turn out to be a great signing for Mohammedan Sporting Club is Ruslan Pashtov, who plays as an attacking midfielder for Russian 3rd Division side Spartak Nalchik.

Ruslan Pashtov just had a perfect season for his current club, as the attacking midfielder scored 4 goals and 7 assists this season.

For an attacking midfielder what is most important is creating chances for the strikers and when there is an opportunity to score, you have to take advantage 0f that, Ruslan Pashtov fits all of these criteria and may turn out to be a spectacular signing for Mohammedan or any I-League club. He will be a free agents past June 2021.

Amir Konov

The final name on our list is Russian 3rd Division side Druzhba Maikop's captain Amir Konov, who is a natural left-winger.

Aged just 25, Amir Konov still has a room for development and as requirement, he is very fast and can score goals along with creating goal scoring opportunities.

Amir Konov had a great season in the Russian 3rd Division this season, in 22 appearances, he has scored 9 goals and 3 assists this season. Amir can also play in midfield and on the right wing. If Mohammedan Sporting Club's new head coach prefers a goal-scoring winger, then Amir Konov could be a perfect fit. His contract will also run out at the end of June.

Mohammedan Sporting Club will be looking for a much successful season this term as fans of all the three Kolkata giants don't won't be happy with with less than top 3 finish.

And if new Mohammedan Sporting head coach Andrey Alekseyevich Chernyshov want to have a successful season, above names could be a great addition to their season.
