Bipin Singh's Added Time Goal Helped Mumbai City FC beat ATK Mohun Bagan to win Indian Super League title

It was the league's two most successful that faced off the grand finale of the Hero Indian Super League 2020-2021 season, and Bipin Singh's goal in the 90th minute became the decisive one giving Mumbai City FC their 1st ever Indian Super League trophy.

Mumbai City FC came into the match with an extra added advantage as the 'Islanders' has already done the double over the 'Mariners' on the league stage this season.

David Willams gave ATK Mohun Bagan the lead in the 18th minute of the match as Roy Krishna snatched the ball from a nervous Ahmed Jahouh and was well received by David Williams who made no mistake to put it at the back off the net.

Mumbai City FC too got their first goal due to a huge mistake by ATK Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya and defender Tiri. Ahmed Jahouh sent a long ball forward looking for Bipin Singh, and before the ball could even reach him, Tiri was trying to clear it didn't connect his header perfectly and Arindam was already out of his line and had no chance to save the ball, the communication was lacking between the goalkeeper and the defender there.

It was 1-1 at the half-time. Just before the half-time whistle, Amey Ranawade, Mumbai City FC's right-back a big head coach after his attempted a dangerous ball resulted in him hitting the field very hard. An ambulance was brought into the scene and he was taken to a nearby hospital.

The story could have been different if the referee would have given an own goal against Mumbai City FC's Mohammed Rakip, a free-kick from Carl McHugh into the box hit Rakip who was trying to clear the ball but instead went into the back of the net, but the referee disallowed the goal citing it as offside, though no ATK Mohun Bagan made any contact with the ball.

While it was all looking likely to go into the extra time, a goalkeeping and defending error cost ATK Mohun Bagan the match in the 90th minute. Arindam was off his line to clear the ball but couldn't do it properly and thus Ogbeche kept the ball possession. The goal was completely open and Ogbeche passed the ball to Bipin Singh who finished it well to give Mumbai City FC the win and most importantly their first-ever ISL trophy.
