The Indian Super League (ISL) League Shield is now poised to go down to the wire until both the teams take on each other on the 15th of April in Kolkata. In this article, we take a look at how Mumbai City FC can win the ISL League Winners' Shield.
How can Mumbai City FC win the ISL League Winners' Shield?
Mumbai City FC have 3 matches remaining, against Hyderabad FC, Odisha FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant, and a win each of the matches would crown Mumbai City FC as the ISL League Champions, and their 3rd League Shield.
Now incase Mumbai City FC draw one match and win one match from their next two matches and Mohun Bagan Super Giant win both their matches, in that case both the teams would be level on 45 points and a draw against Mohun Bagan would crown Mumbai City FC as champions, unless they lose out to Bagan in goal difference.
How can Mumbai City FC win the ISL League Winners' Shield before last matchday vs Mohun Bagan Super?
Mumbai City FC can also win the ISL League Winners' Shield even before the match against Mohun Bagan Super Giant on the 15th April. For that, the Islanders must hope that Mohun Bagan Super Giant lose atleast one of their match against either Punjab FC or Bengaluru FC while Mumbai win both their matches. That would mean, before their last match on the 15th April, Mumbai City FC will have 47 points while Mohun Bagan will have 42 points, 5 points gap going into the last match.
Incase Mumbai City FC loses or draw atleast one of their match, they must hope Mohun Bagan to lose both their match to win the ISL League Shield before the final matchday.
