Greg Stewart likely to part ways with Mumbai City FC

According a report on Scottish news portal the Daily Records, Mumbai City FC's star midfielder Greg Stewart is reportedly set to part ways with Mumbai City FC after deciding to "rip up his contract" with the City Football Group (CFG) owned Mumbai City FC. Meanwhile, reports from IFTWC further states that Spanish midfielder Alberto Noguera has been registered for the Kalinga Super Cup 2024.

The Scottish midfielder Greg Stewart has enjoyed a great time in India since arriving in the year 2021 from recently crowned Scottish champions Rangers FC. He join Owen Coyle led Jamshedpur FC and had a stunning season with the team, who eventually went on to win the League Winners Shield that season.

Meanwhile, after Coyle departed the Jamshedpur based team, Greg Stewart decided to join City Football Group owned Mumbai City FC in 2022. He won another League Winners Shield with the Mumbai City FC in the 2022-2023 season.

Greg Stewart has got off to a great start in the ongoing season as well for his side. Stewart has made a total of 9 appearances for the Mumbai side in the ISL 2023-2024 season where he has scored 2 goals and 3 assists. He also played for the club in the AFC Champions League 2023-2024 season.

The Daily Records suggests that Greg Stewart has a number of admirer in the Scottish Premiership, including his former team Rangers FC. While it is not known whether the midfielder will leave during January or in the summer, but the report added that Stewart now wants to be close to his homeland and his family.

Further the report that Alberto Noguera has been registered for the Kalinga Super Cup adds fuel to the fire. Speculations now leading that Alberto Noguera has been registered to cover for Stewart as the former was unavailable for the first half of Indian Super League (ISL) season, recovering from injury.
