Why Hyderabad FC vs FC Goa match won't be played today in ISL 2023-2024?

Why Hyderabad FC vs FC Goa match suspended today in ISL 2023-2024

The Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-2024 season kicked-off to a grand occasion when the hosts Kerala Blasters FC defeated the visiting team Bengaluru FC in the opening match of the new season of the Indian Super League on 21st September, 2023 in Kochi.

The Day 2 of the Indian Super League season was supposed to see another big match being played today, i.e. on 22nd September in Hyderabad where the hosts Hyderabad FC would take on FC Goa both of their opening match of the season.

However, there won't be any Indian Super League match played today i.e. 22nd September, as the Hyderabad FC vs FC Goa match has been postponed till new tale is announced. This comes right at the back of both the clubs releasing their key players to Indian national football team to play in the Asian Games 2022 being played in Hangzhou in China.

Over the last couple of days, a big trouble in Indian football was that the Indian Super League (ISL) clubs were not willing to release any of their top players for the Asian Games 2022, being played in 2023, because it falls outside the International window set by the FIFA. Which means clubs are not obliged to release their players.

However, after invention from All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Kalyan Chaubey, both the Hyderabad FC and FC Goa agreed to release their top players, Gurmeet Singh and Chinglensana Singh from Hyderabad while Sandesh Jhingan and Dheeraj Singh from FC Goa, who have joined Indian football team squad for the Asian Games.

After that, a decision was taken that the match between Hyderabad FC and FC Goa won't take place on its scheduled date, 22nd September, and the ISL also confirmed that the match will be held at a future date, which will be announced in due course.

So it is a day long wait now for the Indian football fans to resume Indian Super League. But the league will be back with a cracking off a double header on its 3rd day. Odisha FC will host Chennaiyin FC in the 1st match of the day while it will Mohun Bagan Super Giant taking on newly promoted Punjab FC in Kolkata. The first match will kick-off at 5:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) while the 2nd match of the day will kick-off at normal time, 8 PM IST.
