Meanwhile, Odisha FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant beat Chennaiyin FC and Punjab FC on Saturday while defending champions Mumbai City FC beat NorthEast United on Sunday.

The final match of the matchweek 1 of the new ISL season will be played today between the hosts East Bengal FC and the visiting Jamshedpur FC. Both the teams have gone through a huge rebuild through the pre-season with new head coach at the helm.

After winning the ISL League Winners' Shield, Jamshedpur FC had a terrible season the next one where they finished 10th last season. East Bengal also were not quite far away from them as the red and gold team finished 9th, both teams having 19 points total.

Throughout the off season, East Bengal signed Carles Cuadrat as the new head coach and brought in some ISL experienced foreign players, the likes of Borja Herrera, Saul Crespo and Javi Siverio. Meanwhile, Jamshedpur FC have brought in Scott Cooper as their head coach and have signed 5 new foreign players with Daniel Chima Chukwu the only foreigner to be retained.

The 6th match of the Indian Super League 2023-2024 season between East Bengal FC and Jamshedpur FC will be played at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan on the 25th of September with the kick-off scheduled at 8 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
