Inter Miami officially sign Lionel Messi, Debut match confirmed
Lionel Messi is one of the world's biggest football player. Coming through the youth ranks of the Argentine club Club Atlético Newell's Old Boys, he was spotted by the FC Barcelona team and was signed instantly.
He wore the colour of the FC Barcelona and played in Spain from the year 2000, rising through the ranks at Barcelona's youth teams. He remained with the team till the year 2021 and signed for the Paris Saint-Germain in France after his contract expired with the Barca team.
He represented the French capital for 2 years but didn't like the atmosphere there and finally decided to leave the club after his contract expired with them this June 2023.
The summer linked Lionel Messi with number of moves, either to the Saudi Pro League, where his biggest competitor Cristiano Ronaldo is playing, or to the Major League Soccer with David Beckham's Inter Miami or an opportunity to return back to FC Barcelona.
But, the forward eventually chose Beckham's Inter Miami. And today, Inter Miami officially unveiled Messi as one of their star signing of the season.
Inter Miami is currently at the bottom of the Eastern Conference in the MLS 2023 season and will be hoping for a boost in form with the acquisition of the world's one of the greatest ever player.
Lionel Messi has signed a contract with the Inter Miami till the end of the MLS 2025 season and will be playing under the coaching of his former FC Barcelona manager Tata Martino, who has been recently appointed the new head coach of the club.

Lionel Messi will make his debut for the his team Inter Miami during the Leagues Cup match against the Maxican side Cruz Azul on Friday 21st July (Saturday 22nd July in India).

With Lionel Messi joining, Inter Miami is planning to sign some big names, especially some of the Messi's teammates from FC Barcelona. The likes of Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Andrés Iniesta have been linked with a move to the club in the MLS.
Other than that, Real Madrid legend and former captain Sergio Ramos is also another name on the list, who also recently left Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Meanwhile, free agent Eden Hazard has also been linked with the a move to the Miami team after the winger left the Real Madrid team this summer.
