ATK Mohun Bagan transfer news: Australian World Cup forward Dimitri Petratos joins the Mariners

ATK Mohun Bagan Football Club has today confirmed that former Australia international striker Dimitri Petratos has signed for the legacy club. The Australian becomes the club's 6th foreign player for the season.

The new football season is just upon us with the Durand Cup is set to kick-off the season in mid August. All the teams are currently busy building their squad for the upcoming season. ATK Mohun Bagan in particular has done some great transfer business in this year's transfer market.

The club has made some big signing prior to the season and Australian forward Dimitri Petratos has become the latest addition into the squad to fill-in for the outgoing star striker Roy Krishna.

Petratos, a former Sydney FC player, has plied his trade for various Asian clubs. He played his initial days with Sydney FC before switching to Malaysian side Kelantan FC in 2012 and returned back to Australia to join Brisbane Roar. 

He also plied his trade for the South Korean side Ulsan Hyundai for couple of months before joining Newcastle Jets in Australia. He moved to Saudi Arabian club Al-Wehda in 2020 and returned back on loan to Western Sydney Wanderers in 2021.

He has been consistently scoring runs and has been creating chances for his teammates. He also featured in the 2018 FIFA World Cup for the Australian team. Thus far he has featured in 221 A-League matches and has scored 44 goals 31 assists.

And at just 29-years of age, he is sure to be a great addition for the Kolkata based club.

ATK Mohun Bagan had to let off their star striker duo of David Williams and Roy Krishna prior to the season. There were some domestic departures too, major being Prabir Das. However, they have brought in some quality players. While Asish Rai and Ashique Kuruniyan are the two key domestic signing, Brendan Hamill and Florentin Pogba are two solid foreign addition at the back. Vishal Kaith has also joined to add depth to goalkeeping department.
