I-League 2021-2022 List of Award Winners and Prize Money

Gokulam Kerala has done what no club in the history of the I-League has managed to do as they have now become the only team to win the I-League Trophy 2 seasons in a row, when they beat Mohammedan Sporting Club tonight to lift the Trophy.

It was set for a thriller as Gokulam Kerala and Mohammedan Sporting Club met in what was a season decider, a Trophy decider, a match which would decide where the I-League Trophy would be heading.


Mohammedan Sporting Club hosted Gokulam Kerala at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharti Krirangan, but it was latter side who walked away with the Trophy.

Gokulam had the advantage of 3 points going into the match and Mohammedan Sporting Club needed nothing less than a win tonight to bring the I-League to Kolkata.

However, it wasn't their day as they lost 2-1. Gokulam opened the scoring in the 2nd half, but Mohammedan replied a few minutes later with a goal from free-kick. However, some minutes later, Gokulam scored again, again from the left-hand side with Luka Majcen being the creator in both the goals.

With that win, Gokulam Kerala now have become the only team in the history of the I-League to have won the league back-to-back. Now, let's have a look at the award winners list.

Emerging Player of the Season

NEROCA FC's 20-years-old midfielder Jiteshwor Singh bagged the Emerging Player of the Season award. He featured in a total of 15 matches and got a assist to his name. Jiteshwor also received a check of RS 2 Lakh 50 Thousand.

Golden Glove Winner

Debutant Rajasthan United's goalkeeper Bhaskar Roy won the Best Goalkeeper of the Season award. The custodian played a total 17 matches and kept a total 8 clean-sheets. He also got a check of RS 2 Lakh 50 Thousand.

Defender of the Season

Gokulam Kerala's big man Bouba Aminou, who led the Playing XI in absence of regular skipper Sharif, has been adjudged with the Best Defender of the Season award. The 31-years-old played a total of 17 matches and scored 2 goals as well. The defender received a check of RS 2 Lakh 50 Thousand.

Midfielder of the Season

Another Gokulam Kerala FC player to bag an award is Jithin MS, who bagged the Best Midfielder of the Year award. Jithis played in 17 matches and scored 4 goals and 2 assists. Jithis also bagged RS 2 Lakh 50 Thousand as cash reward.

Golden Boot Winner

There is no doubt that Mohammedan Sporting Club's striker Marcus Joseph deserve the Golden Boot, who scored 15 goals from 17 matches. Marcus also received RS 2 Lakh 50 Thousand as cash prize.

Hero of the League

Hero of the League award went to also Marcus Joseph for his brilliant performance throughout the season. Other than scoring 15 goals, Marcus also came-up with 3 assists, playing pivotal role in his team's success. With the Trophy, he also received a check of RS 5 Lakh.

Runners-up

Kolkata's Mohammedan Sporting Club finishes at the 2nd placed team in the league, bagging the runners-up award and a check for RS 60 Lakh.

Champions

Gokulam Kerala have the only team to defend their title successful as they lifted the Trophy twice in a row and also received cash prize of RS 1 Crore.
