The Indian football team fans were furious on Thursday after the Indian football team just managed to pick up a draw against Nepal on their home soil in Kathmandu, Nepal's capital.

The month of September has begun, means that the International FIFA Window is open for national teams to play International matches. And as scheduled, India played its first of the 2 friendly matches against Nepal on 2nd September, Thursday.

The Indian national team played its first match after qualifying for the next round of the Asian Cup Qualifier. The Indian team last played against Afganistan in the World Cup and Asian Cup joint Qualifiers in June. The Sunil Chhetri lead team took the field after a 2 month gap from its last match.

Here's why Indian football fans are furious

The Indian football team is currently positioned on 105th place in the FIFA World Ranking while the Nepal football team is placed 168th in the World Ranking and thus the fans thought that Team India should be dominating the Nepal team. But after the end of 90 minutes plus 4 minutes of added time, the result read 1-1 draw.

The Indian football fans took to the social media to let out their feelings about the match and questioned head coach Igor Stimac's strategy and tactics.

The fans also started to trend the #stimacout in Twitter, which at a point, was the at the number 1 trending in India.

Nepal vs India Football Match

Talking about the match, a communication mistake between defender Chinglensana Singh and goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu lead to the opening goal of the match for Nepal, scored by Anjan Bista in the 36th minute of the match.

The Indian team came back well in the 2nd half to produce the equalizer after a Sunil Chhetri's thunderous strike was blocked by the Nepal goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong, but Anirudh Thapa was at the right position at the right time to slot that in for India to make it 1-1.

The Indian football team players tried their level best to find the winner till the last minute of the match, but it all ended in draw. The 2nd friendly match between both the teams will be played at the same venue (the Dasharath Stadium) on September 5th at 5 P.M Indian time.
