Jamshedpur FC to sign Ishan Pandita |
India's said to be next top striker Ishan Pandita is set to join Jamshedpur FC after the Indian Super League club agreed to pay a certain transfer fee to his former club FC Goa, who signed him last season itself.
Indian news outlet Times of India and IFTWC broke the news that the Indian striker is set to join Jamshedpur based Jamshedpur FC after has agreed to pay a 60 Lakh Indian Rupees transfer fee to FC Goa to lure away the striker from Goa.
Ishan Pandita arrived in India after a long stint away in Spain, honing his skills with various youth teams such as AlmerÃa, Leganés and Gimnà stic in the country and then found himself playing a crucial role for Segunda Division side Lorca FC.
The Indian striker scored 5 goals for Lorca FC in the 2019-2020 season in 23 appearances. Pandita was not able to get on-board for Spain in 2020 due to flight suspension because of COVID-19 pandemic, forcing him to play in India.
FC Goa managed to struck a deal for the young striker as a replacement of outgoing Manvir Singh. However, he didn't get much game time but turned into a hero coming on as a super-sub and scoring 4 goals, all these in just 130 minutes of match time in the Indian Super League. Pandita started 5 matches for Goa in their debut AFC Champions League group stage campaign but couldn't return any goal.
FC Goa had earlier triggered a two-year contract extension with the striker, but, Jamshedpur FC, who is in need of a Indian striker, opted to pay and meet FC Goa's demand of 60 Lakh fee to lure him to Jamshedpur FC.
A source stated to us, "Terms between both the teams have been agreed, all that is left is contractual terms between the club and the player."
He further added that not only Jamshedpur FC but also ATK Mohun Bagan and SC East Bengal were also interested in acquiring the striker, "ATK Mohun Bagan and SC East Bengal also wanted him, but Mohun Bagan didn't wanted for so much fee because they already have a good depth in that department."
The player and the club is said to be in talks for a two-year deal for the youngster and will feature alongside the likes of Nerijus Valskis and Jordan Murray, the new acquisition from Kerala Blasters. It is also being said that Ishan Pandita wants a clause that allows him a foreign move if a club approaches him.
