Hyderabad FC History
Hyderabad FC was formed in 27th August 2019 as an replacement franchise as FC Pune City, owned by popular Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan, disbanded their franchise and the rights were sold to Vijay Madduri, a Telangan based businessman, who with the company of Varun Tripuraneni and actor Rana Daggubati, formed Hyderabad FC based out of Hyderabad.
The club played its first season in the Indian Super League in 2019-2020 season. The club played its inaugural season with the same squad of FC Pune City and their last head coach Phil Brown.
It was a disastrous first season for Hyderabad FC, also known as 'The Nizams', as they could only manage a last place finish with just 10 points in 18 matches, throughout the season they only managed 2 wins and suffered 8 draws and 8 defeats on their road to finish bottom of the table.
But, Hyderabad FC made a strong comeback in the 2020-2021 season of Indian Super League, which was played in Goa in a centralized venue due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hyderabad FC initially appointed former Bengaluru FC coach Albert Roca, but when a call came calling from Spanish giants FC Barcelona, Hyderabad FC allowed him to join the club and replaced him with another Roca, goes by the name of Manuel Marquez Roca.
