VP Suhair set to join Jamshedpur FC on loan from East Bengal; set to reunite with Khalid Jamil

VP Suhair set to join Jamshedpur FC on loan from East Bengal FC ISL 2023-2024

Jamshedpur FC's new head coach Khalid Jamil is set to reunite with his former student as the club is set to sign VP Suhair on loan from East Bengal FC for the remainder of the Indian football season.

The 31-years-old Indian striker-cum-winger VP Suhair has severely struggled for game time under new East Bengal head coach Carles Cuadrat this season, whether it is in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-2024 season or the Durand Cup, where East Bengal finished runners-up to arch-rival Mohun Bagan Super Giant.

VP Suhair was signed by East Bengal in the year 2022 after a terrific campaign under Khalid Jamil for the NorthEast United FC. Suhair scored 4 goals and chipped in with 2 assists in his 19 appearances in total in the Indian Super League that season.

Thanks to his prolific performance, East Bengal FC signed the player for an undisclosed transfer fee. In his first season with the club, he scored 3 goals and 4 assists in total 23 appearances in all competitions.

However, with the rise of Naorem Mahesh Singh and the signing of Nandhakumar Sekar before this season has severely impacted his game time and has only featured in 7 matches and just 86 minutes of game time under new head coach Carles Cuadrat.

As per Bengali daily Bartaman Patrika, VP Suhair is now set to join former coach Khalid Jamil at Jamshedpur FC on loan from the red and gold brigade. East Bengal management also considered getting out to Hyderabad FC but due to their transfer ban, the deal was not possible.

Talking about Jamshedpur FC, the club is once again struggling this season. As of writing this, the club is currently languishing at 10th position in the league table with 9 points from 12 matches. As a result of same, the club most recently sacked head coach Scott Cooper and brought in Indian coach Khalid Jamil in his place for the season.

Khalid Jamil meanwhile have got off to a winning start in their Kalinga Super Cup 2024 campaign, beating his former side NorthEast United.
