Kerala Blasters FC is set to take on their biggest rival Bengaluru FC in the opening match of the Indian Super League 2023-2024 season and the club from Kerala have officially announced its players list for the big league that will be played from September till March.
The Kerala Blasters FC had made it to the Hero ISL Playoffs last season where they faced off Bengaluru FC in a match. Unfortunately, that match ended well for the Blasters as it Bengaluru captain Sunil Chhetri's controversial goal in the first-half of the extra-time that gave Bengaluru the lead.
Kerala Blasters FC head coach Ivan Vukomanovic was no stunned and frustrated with the goal, he took his team out of the match with quite a chunk of first half and the 2nd half of the extra-time still left to be played. And this is the first time after that Kerala Blasters will take on Bengaluru FC. Although both the clubs played against each other in Durand Cup, it was Bengaluru's reserve team.
It will be a massive occasion for Kerala Blasters fans. Other than that, Kerala Blasters FC will be looking to once again reach the playoffs and even qualify for the ISL 2023-2024 Final and eventually lift the title.
Before the season opener against Bengaluru FC, Kerala Blasters FC have named their squad for the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-2024 season.
In the 29 players squad announced, Kerala Blasters have included 4 players. Sachin Suresh is likely to be first-choice keeper. Other than that, Karanjit Singh, Lara Sharma and Mohammed Arbaz will be backup keeper.
Marko Leskovic and Milos Drincic are the two foreign defenders in the club. Other than that, the Indian defenders includes Pritam Kotal, Hormipam Ruivah, Aibanbha Dohling, Naocha Singh, Sandeep Singh and Prabir Das.
The midfield will be lead by captain Adrian Luna. Jeakson Singh, Vibin Mohanan, Freddy Lallawmawma, Danish Farooq, Yoihenba Meitei, Mohammed Azhar, Mohammed Aimen and Saurav Mandal.
Kerala Blasters FC have got a brilliant forward line this season. With 3 quality forwards like Dimitrios Diamantakos, Kwame Peprah and Daisuke Sakai. Other than that, Bryce Miranda, Rahul KP, Nihal Sudeesh, Bidyasagar Singh, Ishan Pandita are the other Indian forwards present in the squad.
