After a stunning season, Kerala Blasters FC's star forward player Dimitrios Diamantakos has officially signed a contract extension to remain with the team till the Indian football 2023-2024 season.

The former Greece International striker Diamantakos played a pivotal role in leading the club to the Playoffs of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-2023 season, however, things didn't end well for the side.

Kerala Blasters FC had to bow out of the Indian Super League 2022-2023 Playoffs campaign with a controversial Goal from the Bengaluru FC captain Sunil Chhetri, which forced the Kerala coach ivan vukomanović lead his team out of the field, for which he was fined later.

Diamantakos, who joined the club after playing for FC Ashdod in Israel on loan from Hajduk Split in Croatia, scored 10 goals and contributed with 3 assists to his team's succes this season. He continued his form in the Hero Super Cup 2023 as well he scored 2 goals in 3 matches but Kerala Blasters were knocked out in the group stage itself.

Kerala Blasters FC acted quickly to make sure that their mistake of Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-2022 season doesn't happen again where they had to see both their prolific targetmen Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Alvaro Vazquez leave the team at the end of the season to join Mumbai City FC and FC Goa respectively.

Dimitrios Diamantakos shared his feelings after extending his contract with the club. Blasters' main man forward laid out his and the club's plans for next season during an interview after extending his contract.

In an interview with the club, Diamantakos said that the team did fail to achieve their target this season, but hopes to win the League Winners Shield next season.

"I must say that it was a good season for me as I scored some goals, but it didn’t help the team achieve our goals and I hope that next season we win the (League) Shield because that is our target. And I hope that I score more goals and help the team more," said Kerala Blasters' marksman.

Diamantakos also praised the club captain Adrian Luna for his contribution in the kind of a season that the former Greek international had. He is also very popular among the Kerala Blasters supporters and he also had some words for the Kerala fans, "We saw the crowd celebrate together after every win and even after the losses. They are always there and make everything better for us and support us a lot."
