East Bengal FC transfer news: Defender Lalchungnunga signs long-term permanent deal

After some disastrous management in the last 2 years, East Bengal FC now seems to be stable as the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) club has announced the signing of Lalchungnunga on a permanent deal.

After some management related hiatus in the last 2 years for East Bengal club, the team is now looking forward to getting their feet back together and prove why they are one of the best team in the country.

While the performance has not really been too good, the team is working on building a good foundation and it all starts with the permanent signing of defender Lalchungnunga till the end of 2025-2026 season.

Chungnunga joined the Red and Gold brigade on a loan deal from the I-League side Sreenidi Deccan FC till the end of the season. However, the team had the option to buyout the now 22-years-old (celebrated his birthday today, 25th December) during the spell of his loan deal.

Various other Indian Super League (ISL) clubs including their city rival ATK Mohun Bagan were monitoring the centre-back's performance. Lalchungnunga has featured in all 10 matches for the club, all being from the starting XI. He has been very reliable at the back for the team despite the team's lackluster defensive performance.

As for other transfer related news from the Red and Gold brigade's camp, if the club internal sources are to be believed, number of club foreign players are likely to leave the team in the January transfer window. Striker Eliandro has been a major failure and fans absolutely not seem happy about him. Defender Ivan Gonzalez might also leave the team with the management in lookout for new defender. While no new names have been linked with the club yet, but it is believed that the management is internally working on number of deals.
