After for the last 3 seasons of representing Kolkata based side, first ATK and then ATK Mohun Bagan, David Williams is set to part ways with the Green and Maroon brigade and will join their biggest rivals Mumbai City FC for the upcoming season of the Indian Super League.
The Australian striker David Williams was a mainstay of the attacking line for the ATK and the ATK Mohun Bagan in the Indian Super League for the last 3 years, scoring on dozens of goals with fellow mate Roy Krishna for the Kolkata sides.
Williams was brought in during the 2019-2020 Indian Super League when ATK was looking to completely rebuild their squad. The season turned out quite fruitful for the Aussie, leading ATK to their 3rd ISL title.
The next season, he joined ATK Mohun Bagan after a merger of the football division of Mohun Bagan AC and ATK. While the team reached final in its debut season, Williams and mates could not lift the Trophy. The next season, that is 2021-2022 season, they reached playoffs and was eventually eliminated by champions Hyderabad FC.
In his 3 season in the Indian Super League so far, Williams has scored 17 goals and has laid on 8 assists for his teammates.
In a breaking news today, the Aussie will now part ways with ATK Mohun Bagan and will join Mumbai City FC on a 1-year deal. A source close to the development informed us, "Ferrando wants to build the team his way, and Williams is not part of his plans."
Williams has a really good experience of playing in the Australian top division, the A-League. He was on fire while playing for Wellington Phoenix, lighting the A-League with fellow strike partner Roy Krishna. The duo was then brought in to India by ATK the same and they both took them to the title that season.
