After all the drama regarding the term-sheet signing between Shree Cement and East Bengal Club, they are looking to build a strong squad this time around with a new investor, and FC Goa's defender Ivan Gonzalez is said to be a priority for East Bengal.
The last 2 years, which is also their first two years, in the Indian Super League (ISL) has not been the best, finishing towards the bottom of the league table.
But this time around, East Bengal Club is looking at a different approach. After parting ways with Shree Cement earlier, they are currently in talks with different sponsors and investors.
The management has also approached players, including the domestic and foreign players. And as per reports, they have already sealed the deal with FC Goa defender Ivan Garrido Gonzalez.
Ivan Gonzalez has been a mainstay of the FC Goa defence line and also led the team in huge chunk of the season last year and was a vital member of FC Goa's AFC Champions League campaign.
As per reports on Football Monk, a source close to the development confirmed to them that Ivan Gonzalez has signed a two-years deal with the East Bengal Club, keeping him there till 2024.
Ivan Gonzalez is a Real Madrid youth product, who has played for different Spanish clubs, such as Racing Ferrol, Cultural Leonesa before coming to India to join FC Goa during the 2020-2021 season.
Ivan Gonzalez has played a total of 36 matches in the Indian Super League (ISL) and has scored 3 goals and 2 assists. During his stint with Goa, he won the Durand Cup last year, in 2021.
