ISL 2021-22 | Who won the match between Mumbai City FC and FC Goa ? Indian Super League 2021-2022

Mumbai City FC completely dominated FC Goa for the 90 minute as the Islanders beat the Goa based team 3-0 in their season opener.

Mumbai City FC crunched past FC Goa in their season opener tonight as a brace from Igor Angulo and a 2nd half goal from Ygor Catatau gave Mumbai City FC the win.

It was all Mumbai City FC throughout the match. FC Goa didn't got much chances to make some damage. Mumbai City FC started attacking FC Goa from the kick-off whistle.

Mumbai City FC was denied a penalty early in the game when Vignesh Dakshinamurthy was brought down by Leander D'Cunha inside the box, but the referee continued the play.

The game was being dominated by the Mumbai boys as FC Goa was finding it really hard to get the ball off of them. They kept on attacking on Goa's goal.

And like how the play was flowing, Mumbai City FC scored the first blood as Igor Angulo, former FC Goa player, converted a penalty on the 33rd minute of the match. Cassio Gabriel was brought down by Ivan Gonzalez of a cross from right back Amey Ranawade, Igor Angulo converted it to make it 1-0 for Mumbai City FC.

Then, it was barely the kick-off after the goal, and Igor Angulo scored another goal in just 3 minutes. It was a left-footed shot from the edge of the box of off a through ball from Raynier Fernandes, and FC Goa goalkeeper had no chance to make the save.

The assist provider Raynier Fernandes had opportunity to make it 3-0 for Mumbai City FC as he was clearly one-on-one with goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh, but he instead hit the crossbar. 

Both the teams went into the tunnel with Mumbai City FC leading by 2 goals, all scored by former FC Goa striker Igor Angulo.

Even in the 2nd half, Des Buckingham's Mumbai City FC was relentlessly attacking Goa, forcing coach Juan Ferrando to make some forcible substitution to get the game in control.

However, Mumbai was too good to handle for FC Goa as they kept on creating chances after chances. Mumbai City FC found the 3rd from a set-piece when Ahmed Jahouh sents the ball straight into the box, and Brazilian forward, who just came in as a substitute, scored with a brilliant header, it was just his first touch in the match.

After the 3rd goal at the 76th minute, FC Goa knew it is very hard to make a comeback from there. FC Goa did made come attacks, but it was either blocked by Mumbai's defence or Goa players were shooting it everywhere except on the goal.

The match finally ended 3-0 in favour of Mumbai City FC, which has now put them top of the table with ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC with the same amount of points.

Mumbai City FC next take on Hyderabad FC on the 27th of November, while FC Goa will play Jamshedpur FC on the 26th of November.
