Chennaiyin FC fans throughout the summer were wondering who will be the head coach of the team in the coming season after former head coach Csaba Laszlo parted ways with the Indian Super League side.
Chennaiyin FC confirmed earlier this month that Bozidar Bandovic will the head coach of the team for the Indian Super League 2021-2022 season. After head coach was confirmed, there is now a new tension going around Chennaiyin FC fans, who will the foreign players for the team this season.
Chennaiyin FC set to sign Mirlan Murzaev
Midway July, the club announced a multi-year contract extension of club captain Rafael Crivellaro. He is so far the only confirmed foreign player for next season. However, the wait now ends for Chennaiyin FC fans as the club is set to acquire the services of Kyrgyzstan national team striker Mirlan Murzaev.
Mirlan Murzaev is currently playing for Kyrgyzstan first tier club FK Dordoi Bishkek and will become Chennaiyin FC's Asian quota player. The player is capable of playing in both wings as well as attacking midfielder, he can be used as a striker as well.
IFTWC reported the news first, and when we contacted a source who is keeping tabs of the deal, confirmed to us, "Yes, the deal is almost done and paperworks will be signed soon."
Mirlan Murzaev is representing Kyrgyzstan national football team since 2009 and has 48 appearances to his name in which he has scored 14 goals. The forward also captains FK Dordoi Bishkek.
Mirlan Murzaev has so far enjoyed a glorious career having played more than 200 matches in his club career and has scored near about 100 goals. He will become the first ever Kyrgyzstan player to ply his trade in the Indian top division, Indian Super League.
The player is contracted till December 2021 with his current club FK Dordoi Bishkek, for whom he played in five occasions, is likely to take an early release, however, the player is in good form and has scored 7 goals and 4 assists in 12 appearances this season in the Kyrgyz Premier League, and very unlikely to get early release and Chennaiyin FC might have to pay a small transfer fee.
We asked a Chennaiyin FC fans about his opinion on their latest acquisition, "We have high expectations from him and hope he enjoys a successful career here in India" stated the Chennai based Indian Super League club's fan.
