Indian Football Team Head Coach Igor Stimac Name 35 Member Probables For Oman, UAE Friendlies

Indian national team head coach Igor Stimac has named a 35 player probable for the friendlies against Oman and UAE that will be played toward the end of the month.

10 new faces, who performed well in Indian Super League this season, have also been selected in the 35 players list.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) also confirmed that the final list consisting of 28 players will be announced after the final match of the Indian Super League that will be played on 13th March.

Head Coach Igor Stimac stated, “We have kept 35 players in the list as a cushion in case any player picks up an injury during the Hero Indian Super League playoffs."

He also added that he is looking forward to how bright the future of Indian football is, after the inclusion of many youngsters, “It’s been a difficult year for all of us and finally, we are all getting together. It will be great to meet some new young guns and to check how bright our future is with them.”

“The two matches against Oman and UAE mean a lot to Indian Football. It’s been a while since we last played and this is a great opportunity to check where we stand at the moment

“I know the season was a tough one and players might be overloaded. But, we have enough time to refresh their legs and brains. However, many of them will have a break of two weeks without any organised training sessions prior to joining the camp. Hopefully, they will execute their individual working plans" he further added.

While he also confirmed that players such as Sahal Abdul Samad, Rahul Bheke, Asish Rai and Brandon Fernandes have been left out of the squad due to injuries.  

The Indian national team was last seen in action back in 2019 competing in the FIFA World Cup 2022 and Asian Cup 2023 joint qualifiers.
