On Sunday night, Mumbai City FC won against ATK Mohun Bagan 2-0 to go to the top of the Indian Super League (ISL) standing, and thus won the ISL League Winners' Shield.

After the completion of the first cycle of the league, the teams from Mumbai and Kolkata both were on 25 and 21 points respectively. Both teams finished with 40 points from 20 matches in the league stage.

Mumbai City FC were dominating the league after few matches into the 2nd phase and started dropping points, while on the other side, 'The Mariners' kept on winning matches and overtook Mumbai City FC.

But their recent draw against a 10-man Hyderabad FC on 22nd February made it hard for the mariners and in the end they failed to finish top of the table.

Mumbai City FC came into this match with very high morale after a big win against Odisha FC in their penultimate match.

For Mumbai City FC, Mourtada Fall and Bartholomew Ogbeche scored from set-pieces. While the Fall, who goes by the nickname of the wall, managed to keep Roy Krishna silent throughout the match and that gave them an extra advantage on their pursuit of League Winners' Shield.

After this result and earlier FC Goa's draw against Hyderabad FC has set up two great semi-final duels as Mumbai City FC will take on FC Goa while ATK Mohun Bagan will take on NorthEast United.
