Mumbai City FC sign Slovakian striker Jakub Vojtus Indian Super League Transfer news 2023-2024

Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Mumbai City FC have today officially announced that they have agreed terms with former Slovakia U21 international striker Jakub Vojtus. The club confirmed that the terms with the Slovakian 30-years-old striker is has been agreed and awaits medical clearance.

Mumbai City FC is pushing to win the League Winners Shield and is competing against the likes of Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Odisha FC to get their hand on the coveted silverware.

The recent history of Jorge Pereyra Diaz missing from the starting XI has been a massive debate among the Mumbai City FC fans and with the already having maximum 6 foreign players registered for the league, it might not come as a shock if Pereyra Diaz is completed excluded from the squad. Another possibility would be, Jakub replacing injured Iker Guarrotxena.

Mumbai City FC currently sits at the top of the Indian Super League (ISL) league table with 39 points from 19 matches. Although the point tally could be increased upto 41 with the outcome of the match against Jamshedpur FC is under scrutiny by the AIFF as of writing now.

Jakub Vojtus is a 30-years-old Slovakian striker who was born in SpiÅ¡ská Nová Ves in 1993. He started his football career with a local youth club. He rose through the youth ranks of MÅ K Žilina and was poached by Italian giants Inter Milan in 2010. He played for the Inter Milan U19 team and had some loan spell. However, things didn't work out with the Italian club and he joined Chievo Verona, where also he featured in U19 team.

He played for a season for Portugese club Olhanense and signed for Spartak Trnava in February 2015. He also played for Polish club Miedz Legnica and GKS Tychy. He joined Romanian club FC Rapid in January 2022 from Hungarian club MezÅ‘kövesd. He joined his most recent club ACSM Politehnica Iasi in January 2023 and if he gets the medical clearance, he will wearing Mumbai City FC's sky blue jersey after the international break.

Jakub Vojtus had his most fruitful stint with the Polish club Miedź Legnica, where during his two years stint, he scored 13 goals in 31 appearances. Meanwhile, in the going 2023-2024 season while playing for Politehnica IaÈ™i, he has only 3 goals in 21 appearances.
