Scottish tactician Owen Coyle displayed his tactical brilliance to guide his team Chennaiyin FC to a last moment victory after a goal at 90+7 minute from Irfan Yadwad as Mohun Bagan Super Giant missed head coach Antonio Lopez Habas.
Owen Coyle and his team Chennaiyin FC produced a brilliant 2nd half display in Kolkata in a must win match to remain in the fray for the ISL 2023-2024 playoffs.
Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan Super Giant were led by assistant coach Manuel Cascallana as the team truly missed their boss, who missed the match due to being unwell for the match, also missing the pre-match press conference.

Few minutes later, Ryan Edwards leaped the highest to beat all the Mohun Bagan defenders and goalkeeper Vishal Kaith to take a 2-1 lead. And just when things were looking good for Chennaiyin, Mohun Bagan won a penalty after a foul on Armando Sadiku and Dimi Petratos didn't miss it.
But the match changed on its head again as Mohun Bagan Super Giant were pushing for the winner and left a huge gap behind that subbed-on Irfan Yadwad beat Anwar Ali and goalkeeper Vishal Kaith to pick-up the third goal for Chennaiyin to make it 3-2 in favour of the away team.
Mohun Bagan in the end got two great opportunities to score but it was Debjit Majumder's brilliance in Chennaiyin's goal that helped Chennaiyin FC to win this crucial match 3-2 in Kolkata.
This result means that Mohun Bagan Super Giant stay 2nd in the league table behind Mumbai City FC. Mumbai have 41 points while Mohun Bagan have 39 points with both teams having played 19 matches each.
Meanwhile, this win ensures Chennaiyin FC remain in the race for the playoffs. With this win, Chennaiyin FC is now in 9th place in the league table with 21 points, equal with teams ahead like Punjab FC and Jamshedpur FC while Bengaluru FC is currently 6th, the last playoffs spot, with 22 points.
