Mohun Bagan transfer news: Mohun Bagan signs India international defender Anwar Ali

Indian Super League club Mohun Bagan Super Giant have officially today announced the arrival of the Indian football team's one of the most talented defender Anwar Ali from I-League club Delhi FC. However, the Indian Super League champions haven't further details about the transfer.

After announcing the rename of the club from ATK Mohun Bagan to Mohun Bagan Super Giant after winning the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-2023, the team has been very busy in the transfer market so far.

After already confirming some of the top names just ahead of the new season, the club has today officially confirmed the arrival of the star Indian defender Anwar Ali to further strengthen the team's defence line. The announcement of Mohun Bagan Super Giant didn't include any length of the deal but Delhi FC on their social media confirmed that he has joined on loan.

Anwar Ali is a very interesting name in the Indian football scenario. Coming from the renowned Minerva Football Academy, he plied his trade for the Minerva Punjab FC and also played in the 2017 U17 World Cup that was played in India.

Back in 2017-2018, he was one of the most promising talent in the country. His opportunities were cut short though due to his medical issues. However, Minerva Football Academy owner Ranjit Bajaj took care of him very well and made sure he take all the measures to get him and cleared to participate in football against after a long time.

He joined FC Goa in January 2021 on a loan deal till the end of the 2022-2023 season from Delhi FC. But right before his loan could expire, Mohun Bagan, who were tracking him for long time swoop in with a lucrative offer that would make Anwar Ali one of the highest paid footballer in India.

As for Mohun Bagan, then known as ATK Mohun Bagan, won the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) Cup beating Bengaluru FC in penalty shootout in the Final. The team managed to achieve the feat despite struggling the whole season with number injuries major players.

And now, the team is focusing to win the AFC Cup 2023-2024 season as their primary target and Anwar Ali is gonna be a valuable addition for the team.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant have been very busy in the transfer window. He finalized the deal with Anwar Ali way back in March. After that, they have also signed star Indian midfielder Anirudh Thapa. Australian A-League winning striker Jason Cummings and Albania international striker Armando Sadiku will boost the team's attacking department this season.

Despite completing so many deals, the team is still in the market to further add to their strengths. As per reports, the club wants Kerala Blasters FC duo Ruivah Hormipam and midfield Sahal Abdul Samad, however, as per latest reports, the Hormipam deal is now off while Sahal arrival in Kolkata very much depends on Mohun Bagan captain Pritam Kotal's move the other way as Kerala looks to add Mohun Bagan captain to their roster.

As for outgoings, the club has let of defenders Tiri, who has Mumbai City FC and Slavko Damjanovic, who has joined Bengaluru FC ahead of the new season. Young midfielder Ricky Shabong is meanwhile set to join new ISL promoted team Roundglass Punjab FC.

Odisha FC meanwhile wants to sign Liston Colaco but the deal is far from being done. Meanwhile midfielder Puitea is worried about his gametime and is looking for a move away from the team with Roundglass Punjab FC, NorthEast United FC and Chennaiyin FC reportedly interested in his services.
