The Indian football 2022-2023 season is yet to be done and dusted with the Hero Super Cup coming-up, however, all the teams are already in the market to prepare their team for next season. But before signing any players, it's time for the Head Coaches as East Bengal FC is one among 3 who are chasing former Hero ISL winning coach Sergio Lobera.

The Spanish tactician Sergio Lobera is one of the most successful coaches in the history of the Indian Super League (ISL). Not only that, Lobera has a great record of working with the youngsters, bringing in quality foreign, the examples are the likes of Ferran Corominas (Coro), Hugo Boumous, Mourtada Fall, Ahmed Jahouh among many.

Lobera was first introduced into the Indian football scenes back in the year 2017, joining FC Goa from Moghreb Tétouan and brought in also the above mentioned players one by one.

He stayed with the franchise till January 2020 and won the first ever League Winners Shield with FC Goa that season. He then joined Mumbai City FC, who were then acquired by City Football Group, that also owns the Manchester City of Premier League.

Sergio Lobera had a stunning season leading the team and won both the League Winners Shield and the Hero ISL Trophy. However, after that successful season, City Football Group (CFG) removed from the coaching duty of Mumbai City FC and some months later, gave him a promotion to CFG's other team in China, SC Jiuniu. He has been tasked with getting the team promoted to the Chinese top division.

Lobera is still a part of the Jiuniu team. However, he has already received 3 offers from India with an opportunity to return to management in India. East Bengal FC, Hyderabad FC and Odisha FC are the two teams who are looking to bring back the former ISL winning coach back to India.

East Bengal have not had good luck since joining the Indian Super League (ISL) 2 years back. This season they finished 9th under the coaching of former India head coach Stephen Constantine. East Bengal is one of the most successful club in India and wants to return back to former glory and they believe Lobera is the right man for the job.

On the other hand, Odisha FC parted ways with their coach Joseph Gombau despite reaching the Hero ISL Playoffs for the first time. They now want to take the next step and wants Sergio Lobera to lead the charge. As for Hyderabad FC, Manolo Marquez have been a great coach for them, but he has also announced his decision to leave th club at the end of the season, is like to join FC Goa. In this condition, Hyderabad FC also require a coach who can keep the team's terrific form and consistency going.
