Western United sign Nikita Rukavytsya as replacement for Aleksandar Prijovic

Australian A-League club Western United have today officially announced the signing of Australia international striker Nikita Rukavytsya after the club parted ways with their championship winning marksman Aleksandar Prijovic earlier today.

Western United on Wednesday, officially announced the departure of their star striker Aleksandar Prijovic ahead of the new A-League 2023-2024 season.

The Western United, who won the A-League Championship in the year 2021-2022 season when Prijovic was in top form. However, the last season was not quite so fruitful for the Serbian striker.

Earlier on Wednesday, Western United officially confirmed the departure of the Serbian striker, and moments later, also anniunced the arrival of Australian international striker Nikita Rukavytsya.

Nikita was most recently a part of the Maccabi Haifa squad for the 2022-2023 season and he scored only 1 goal in 17 appearances.

Nikita Rukavytsya came through the youth ranks for the likes of Torpedo Mykolaiv, Inglewood United, Perth SC before signing for A-League club Perth Glory in 2007. He played for the club till 2009 before making a move to the Dutch club FC Twente.

Nikita in his career, played for the likes of German club Hertha Berlin, Mainz and then retuned to Western Sydney Wanderers in 2014. He made a move to Beitar Jerusalem in 2015. In his career, he also played for Maccabi Haifa, Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

Nikita Rukavytsya has also represented the Australian team. He has played for the Australia U20 and U23 team. He made his senior Australian team debut in the year 2009 and has played 21 matches, though has scored only 1 goal.

Western United kick-off its A-League 2023-2024 season on the 21st of October against the Citizens as they take on Melbourne City FC.
