The Indian football team was scheduled to play their first match of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 qualifier on the 6th of September against, Maldives, but just a day before the match on the 6th, Maldives Football Federation officially withdrew the team from the competition, meaning Indian football team had to delay its AFC U23 Asian Cup campaign.
Thus, the first match for the Indian football team in the AFC Asian Cup 2024 qualifier will begin today, 9th September against the hosts China at the Dalian Suoyuwan Stadium in Dalian.
Qualification Process
The need to know the Qualification Process for the AFC U23 Asian Cup is also important for the Football fans India. A total of 44 teams have been divided into 11 groups of 4 teams each. Now in the group stage of the competition, each and every team will play 3 matches each, except for groups who now have only 3 teams in a group after some teams opted out of the competition.
After the end of the group stage, all the 11 group winners, excluding the hosts of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024, Qatar, will directly qualify for the AFC U23 Asian Cup next year. Meanwhile, four best 2nd best placed teams will also qualify for the tournament.
Since some groups now have only 3 teams, thus, in other groups, after the end of all the group stage matches, the result against the 4th placed team will not be counted to identify the 2nd best placed team to make it fair. Meanwhile, the group B's matches against host Qatar will be counted as friendly and the result of that will not be counted for the final standings.
When and where will Indian football team's matches in AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 qualifier will be played?
With the Maldives match now cancelled, the Indian football team will now play both China and UAE (United Arab Emirates) in the AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifier. Both the matches will be played in Dalian, however, the match against China will be played from 05:05 PM Indian Standard Time (IST), the 2nd match against UAE will be played from 2 PM IST on the 12th September.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) several issue on organising the live streaming of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 Qualifier tournament being played in China. In the end, the AIFF has decided to live streaming the Indian football team matches in the Indian Football Team's official YouTube channel. (Update: The match against UAE won't be live streamed as the host country China won't be producing or broadcasting the match.)
