Indian Super League 2020-2021 runners-up ATK Mohun Bagan has officially announced the signing of the Australian centre-back Brendan Hamill as their Asian quota player and will replace injured Tiri in the squad.

ATK Mohun Bagan officially bid adieu to their star Australian striker David Williams after his contract expired in May this year. Thus, as per the rules, it is mandatory to have a AFC quota player in the squad, thus, ATK Mohun Bagan have snapped-up the services of AFC Champions League winning centre-back Brendan Hamill.

Brendan Hamill, an Australian centre-back comes in as a AFC quota player to replace the injured Tiri in the squad, who suffered an ACL injury during their AFC Cup match against Gokulam Kerala.

Brendan Hamill joins the Mariners from A-League side Melbourne Victory, who finished 2nd in the league standing this season.

Hamill started his career with the Melbourne Hearts (now known as Melbourne City FC) and also had stints with Korean league clubs such as Seongnam FC and Gangwon FC before returning home again to join Western Sydney Wanderers and played an important role in guiding the team to the AFC Champions League victory in 2014.

Hamill signed for the Western United in 2019 before signing for the Melbourne Victory in 2021. He played 18 matches in the league phase of the A-League 2021-2022 season and scored 3 goals as well. He was a solid presence in the defence line for Victory alongside Roderick Miranda and Leigh Broxham.

ATK Mohun Bagan started off this season with a flurry of goodbyes, including the likes of star striker Roy Krishna, David Williams among a very few. They started their incoming transfer business with 2 big announcements on the same day as Asish Rai and Ashique Kuruniyan both signed for the club on a long term deal.
