Chennaiyin FC qualify for Indian Super League ISL 2024 Playoffs

A terrific 2nd half of the season turnaround and a bit of a favour from Punjab FC in Delhi means that Owen Coyle led Chennaiyin FC have completed a perfect comeback to qualify for the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024 playoffs.

East Bengal's new foreign signing for next season, Madih Talal and his current team Punjab FC delivered a perfect performance in Delhi to knockout East Bengal FC from the Indian Super League (ISL) playoffs.

Punjab FC beat East Bengal 4-1 in Delhi with Madih Talal also on the scoresheet while Wilmar Jordan Gill scored a brace for the Punjab team.

This win for Punjab FC means that the newly promoted team to ISL ends its first season on a high with a win. But, there win turned out to be even bigger contribution for Chennaiyin FC, as the two times ISL Champions have qualified for the ISL Playoffs 2024, for the first time since last in 2019-2020 season when they reached the final that season.

As of writing this, Chennaiyin FC have played 21 matches and have 27 points to their name in 6th place. East Bengal FC end the season with 24 points and a win would have seen them leapfrog Chennaiyin FC to 6th place.

Chennaiyin FC were languishing at the bottom half of the table for most of the season, but a tough competition for the 6th spot meant that some good results in the 2nd half of the season has helped Chennaiyin FC seal that 6th place in the league eventually. With that, Owen Coyle's Chennaiyin FC will play in the ISL 2024 Playoffs and will be facing off against the 3rd placed team in the league table in the playoff match.
