In the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-2024 match today, it will be the current Sergio Lobera side Odisha FC who will take on his former team Mumbai City FC at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhuvaneswar in matchweek 2 of the ISL 2023-2024 season.

Both the clubs got off to a flying start in the Indian Super League so far, winning their respective home match. Odisha FC beat Chennaiyin FC 2-0 while Mumbai City FC got the better of NorthEast United FC 2-1 in Guwahati.

This will be a memorable match for the Odisha FC head coach Sergio Lobera, who will take on his former team today. During his previous stint in India, Sergio Lobera guided the Mumbai City FC to a double in the 2020-2021 season, winning both the League Winners Shield as well as the ISL Trophy beating ATK Mohun Bagan (now Mohun Bagan Super Giant).

After his stint with Mumbai, he joined another City Football Group owned team SC Jiuniu in China. But he has made his return to Indian football once again, this time as the head coach of the Odisha FC. After joining Odisha, Lobera has brought some of his Mumbai City FC players to Odisha FC. Amey Ranawade

Defender Amey Ranawade played a pivotal role in guiding Mumbai City FC to the double under Lobera. However, after Lobera left, Ranawade became a fringe player for now Des Buckingham led side. Upon his arrival, Lobera has brought him to Odisha FC on loan.

Mourtada Fall

Mourtada Fall is a veteran defender who has playing in the ISL for some time now. He joined Mumbai City FC from FC Goa and there is no doubt, he has been one of the best defender in the ISL history. But under Des Buckingham, he was slowly being moved out of the picture. And this season, Sergio Lobera has brought in the highest scoring defender to Odisha FC after leaving Mumbai City FC.

Ahmed Jahouh

Ahmed Jahouh is another player who followed the footsteps of Sergio Lobera and Mourtada Fall. Jahouh switched to Mumbai City FC from FC Goa and won the double with the club. But, Mumbai let him go this season and Sergio Lobera made most of it by bringing him to the club.

Diego Mauricio

Diego Mauricio, Odisha FC's lethal striker, had a short stint with the Mumbai based club. Mauricio signed for the club in January 2022 but made his return to Odisha FC in the summer. Since then, he has been playing for Odisha FC and has been scoring a lot of goals.

Amrinder Singh

Odisha FC goalkeeper Amrinder Singh is another player who played for Mumbai City FC and will play against them in today's ISL match. Amrinder in fact was the captain of the team that won the ISL double in 2020-2021 season. After that, he signed for ATK Mohun Bagan, however, things didn't go as planned and he ended up joining Odisha FC last summer.

Cy Goddard

Cy Goddard is making his return to Indian football once again after playing for Mumbai City FC in the 2020-2021 season. He then played in Australia and USA and is once again back in India under Sergio Lobera, this time for the Odisha FC.
