Indian Super League club Mohun Bagan Super Giant has today officially unveiled the club's logo (crest) after a name change from ATK Mohun Bagan to Mohun Bagan Super Giant following the team's victory in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-2023 Playoffs.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant new logo revealed
Since after the Kolkata Games and Sports Private Limited (KGSPL) took over the reins of the Mohun Bagan Athletic Club's football division control, allowing the team to get promoted from the I-League to ISL, the fans were quite disappointed with the management.
The management's decision to use KGSPL's former club ATK as a prefix to Mohun Bagan was not a kind gesture towards the Mohun Bagan fans. That led to about 2 years of protest from the fans, asking for the removal of the three letter terms.
Despite the heavy protest from the club fans, the management kept their mouth shut until summer 2022 when a senior official from the Mohun Bagan Athletic Club informed that the process for the change of name has started.
However, despite the talks, the name wasn't changed and the fans all lost faith and hope, until when ATK Mohun Bagan went on to beat Bengaluru FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) Final. That's when club's chairman Mr. Sanjiv Goenka announced the removal of ATK during the team's celebration on the pitch.
The name change was finally initiated on the 1st June but the club's logo reveal was delayed. As the days gone by, the fans got curious as what was happening.
However, the long wait finally ended today when the club official social media handles have officially revealed the new logo. While the new logo resembles quite a lot to the ATK Mohun Bagan logo, the name has been changed where Mohun Bagan is written at the top while Super Giant has been written on the lower half.
The new logo also carries the history and legacy of the club, showing the establishment year 1889 written right on the middle of the logo, on the infamous boat. Other than that, the logo also contains club's chairman Mr. Sanjiv Goenka's company RPSG Group's logo on the both sides, separating the Mohun Bagan and Super Giant portion of the text.
