Chennaiyin FC set to sign Jordan Murray Indian Super League 2023-2024

Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) club Chennaiyin FC is reportedly set to sign former Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC's ISL League Winners' Shield winning forward Jordan Murray ahead of the new Indian Super League 2023-2024 season.

Chennaiyin FC is one of the most successful team in the history of the Indian Super League (ISL) having won the Trophy 2 times, behind ATK. However, the team has rather gone through a rough patch, especially after losing the Indian Super League 2019-2020 final against ATK.

Then head coach Owen Coyle led the side to a terrific comeback despite a poor start led by their then star striker Nerijus Valskis. As a result of that, the team reached the final of the ISL 2019-2020 season but lost against ATK.

But, they lost the services their boss to Jamshedpur FC next season and he made them a ISL League Winners'Shield winner in his 2nd season. He returned to Scotland after that, but he is now returning back to India, to his former club Chennaiyin FC as their head coach, and he alongwith himself is bringing Australian striker Jordan Murray with himself.

According to a report by renowned Indian football journalist Marcus Mergulhao, Chennaiyin FC is set to sign former Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC striker Jordan Murray ahead of the new season. Murray was part of the Jamshedpur side that won the League Shield.

In his first season in India in 2020-2021 season, Murray scored 7 goals in 19 appearances for Kerala Blasters. Next season he joined Jamshedpur FC, where he only scored 4 goals, but was very effective in a role where he was needed to build the play alongside Greg Stewart.

He then joined Swat Cat in the Thai League the next season. In 28 matches, he scored 4 goals there.

Chennaiyin FC transfer news

Chennaiyin FC has so far signed Indian talents such as Sweden Fernandes, Prateek Kumar Singh, Sachu Siby, Bijay Chhetri, Ankit Mukherjee and Irfan Yadwad. As for departures, their captain and star Indian midfielder Anirudh Thapa has joined Mohun Bagan Super Giant. While also they have released all of their foreign players.

There has been a number of foreign players who have been linked with the club. Former playmaker Rafael Crivellaro has also been reported for return after leaving midway last season to join Jamshedpur FC. Meanwhile, former Jamshedpur FC defender Stephen Eze could also be heading to the Marina Machans.

Indian striker Ishan Pandita and former NorthEast United FC striker Wilmar Jordan Gill has also been linked with a move to the Chennai based club.
