FC Goa transfer news: Marc Valiente to lead Goa's defence line

FC Goa set to sign Marc Valiente for Indian Super League 2022-2023
After completing the signing of forward Iker Guarrotxena, FC Goa is set to complete deal with Sporting Gijón defender Marc Valiente, who is set to sign a reported 1 year deal with the Goa based Indian Super League club.

After finishing 9th in the points table last season, the ISL 2019-2020 League Winners' Shield winners FC Goa is looking to rebuild the squad with new boss at the helm in the form of a former FC Goa player and captain Carlos Pena.

FC Goa this year have decided to part ways with their most of the foreign players, except for their most loyal player and skipper Edu Bedia, who has signed a new contract with the club.

With Ivan Gonzalez now released and likely to join East Bengal Club, FC Goa reached agreement with LaLiga 2, 2nd tier to Spanish football, club Sporting Gijón defender Marc Valiente, who set to join the Gaurs on a year-long deal.

Marc Valiente is a former FC Barcelona academy player and has played a teammate to FC Goa's gaffer Carlos Pena and is said to be Pena who convinced Marc to come for a stint in India.

Marc has mostly played in numerous clubs in Spain and has had a thrice a stint outside of his native country when he played for Israeli club Maccabi Haifa, Belgian club KAS Eupen and Serbian club Partizan before returning to Spain to sign for Sporting Gijón in 2019.

He has played in total of 59 matches across various competitions for Sporting and has scored 2 goals as well. He has been a reliable man at the back for Sporting, who finished 17th in the league this season.

FC Goa have been very active in the transfer market, renewing the contract of their core players and has acquired the services of forward Alvaro Vazquez and Iker Guarrotxena as their 2 foreign players so far and will be linking-up with Edu Bedia, who has extended his contract with the club and it will be his 6th season with the team.
